In my project Red I explore architecture through a surreal red tint. I use Lomo Redscale film – ordinary colour film loaded back-to-front into the canister – to make abstract pictures of iconic buildings – as, here, with a series of pictures of the Tate Switch House, an art gallery in London. The film gives a distinctly red cast, complimenting the abstract approach I take to framing the pictures. Having tested the project on the Switch House I plan to return to Red soon, making more pictures of strong architecture to see how it looks through that strange, Martian hue.
